CBT is an evidence based and practical talking therapy. It is based on the understanding that your thoughts, emotions, physical symptoms, and behaviours are all interconnected. Unhelpful thoughts and behaviours can trap you in a negative cycle. CBT focuses on breaking apart those cycles to help you manage problems by challenging the way you think and act. It is most commonly used to treat depression and anxiety disorders.

When you begin therapy, we’ll spend time gently exploring the difficulties that led you to seek support. Together, we’ll build a clear picture of what’s been happening and identify the patterns that may be keeping you stuck. From there, we’ll create a treatment plan that aligns with your goals and feels meaningful to you.
As sessions progress, we’ll use targeted CBT techniques tailored to your individual thoughts, emotions, physical symptoms and behaviours. This might include developing new coping strategies, experimenting with different ways of responding to situations, or understanding how certain thought patterns influence how you feel.
Towards the end of therapy, we’ll work together to create a personalised therapy blueprint. This helps you recognise early warning signs, understand what supports your wellbeing, and feel confident using the tools you’ve learned to prevent future setbacks.

Sadly the term ‘therapist’ is not a protected title so many people without appropriate credentials can use this job title which can be confusing! I have received formal training, hold a postgraduate diploma in CBT and am accredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). These credentials can be checked by searching the BABCP CBT register or by looking at my Psychology Today profile.

The cost of a video therapy session is £60 per hour. The cost of an in person therapy session is £75 for an hour. I offer in person sessions at Vickers House in Basingstoke and at Buick Mackane in Newbury.
I understand therapy can be an investment, so we can agree on a pace for sessions that suits both your needs and your budget.
